Where should I install the server?
On one Windows PC that stays powered on during every shift and is reachable from the floor PCs. Every TaktClock Desktop and Andon Board connects to that one server, so all data lives in one place on your network.
The client can't connect to the server.
Check three things: the server window is running, the address in the client's Settings → Connection matches the server PC's IP and port (for example http://192.168.1.20:5000), and Windows Firewall on the server PC allows the connection.
Do I need internet access?
No. TaktClock runs entirely on your local network. Internet is only needed to download the installers and for occasional licence checks.
How do I add a new employee?
Open the Key User panel on the server and go to the Employee Roles tab. Add the employee number and choose a role — operator, supervisor, CI engineer, production controller or admin. The new login works on every client straight away.
An operator gets “employee not found”.
The employee number isn't on the server yet, or the client is pointed at a different server. Add the number in the Employee Roles tab and confirm the client's server address.
What can each role see?
Operators see their takt timer and can raise andon calls. Supervisors and production controllers get the floor and operations views. CI engineers get the analysis views, and admins can change settings.
How do I create andon categories like Quality or Maintenance?
On the server, open the Key User panel → Andon Config tab. Add a category (name, department, colour), then add request types under it with a response-time limit. Click Save Andon Config to Server — every Andon Board picks it up on its next refresh.
The board says no andon categories are configured.
Nothing has been saved in the Andon Config tab yet. Add at least one category and type on the server, save, then refresh the board.
My stack lights don't change.
In the Andon Board open Settings → Arduino Lights, pick the correct COM port and keep the baud rate at 9600. Make sure the Arduino is plugged in before the board starts, and that no other program (such as the Arduino IDE) has the port open.
Where is my data stored?
In a database on your server PC. Nothing is sent to the cloud. Back up the server folder the same way you back up other plant systems.
Can I get data into Power BI or Excel?
Yes. Use the CSV export to pull session tables — employee, MO, part, area, process, subprocess, elapsed and standard time — into Power BI, Tableau or Excel.
Does TaktClock connect to our ERP?
It can read standard hours from Infor M3, SAP, Oracle, Epicor and Dynamics 365 using a read-only connection. Contact us and we'll scope it with your IT team.
